MAGICAL GIRL: Movie Logo

Description

This is the concept art for one of my project ideas, "MAGICAL GIRL" which is kind of this concept where you take magical girl shows like Sailor Moon, and inject them with Jason Bourne and Die Hard and... well, grit-ify them.

I wanted the logo to kind of be an anti-thesis to the Magical Girl Genre to get it across right from the start that this is NOT your lovey-dovey magical girl concept as per the Genre. So I want with a very simple, blocky font (Arial Black) and subdued the colors.

The crest in the background is the 'US CIA: Department of Paranormal Affairs' crest, which is in itself subdued with a blue wash and given some special lighting to make it seem like it's not quite there yet.

The full crest will be in my gallery.

The logo looks good, though you should change the color, and the name.  Mahou Senshi has been used before.  If you take Nanoha and replace the frills and colors with standard camo or some other military uniform, that would be an excellent start, and making transportation and magical weaponry more practical.  I'd imagine some sort of functional magical armor wouldn't be amiss.

There's obviously a lot of factors that would play into how magic is dealt with in such a setting.  Is magic common?  Is it a closely guarded secret?  Is it theurgic, vancian, hermetic, etc?  Does it come about through empowerment by a familiar, or is it cast from life force, or mana, or manipulating the universe through sigils?  Is magic a science, or is it "wild"?  Is magic limited to certain young girls, or can it be accessed by men as well?  Does it nullify physical attacks?  Can it be nullified or combated by physical defenses?  Does it have an affect on the psyche and emotions (does it drive practitioners insane)?

What are the limits of magic?  Can it accidentally tear all of reality to shreds?  Is it hard even to lift an average boulder with it?  Is it primarily attack-oriented, or defense-oriented?  Can it revive the dead?  Are the revived "themselves"?  Is it forbidden to revive the dead?

What are the rules of magic?  Is there a karma-like backlash?  Is it empowered by faith?  Will?  Courage?  Physical stamina?  Imagination?

Are there any other sentient beings other than humans?  Golems?  Homunculi?  Spirits?  Ghosts?  Faeries?  Aliens?  Demons?  Angels?  Gods?  Abstracts, anthropomorphic personifications, twelve-dimensional thought-constructs?

How long has magic existed?  Does it work well with technology?  Can it be used to drive, and in turn be driven by, technology?  How far has technology progressed?  How far has magical studies progressed?

Is magic just another scientific force to be studied?  Is it a living thing with its own will and agenda?

All of these could drastically affect society at large and how "magical girls" function.  They could be like Nanoha in camo, or the entire society could become the Time Lords of Gallifrey.  Or you might have a Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality world with a Ministry of Magic.  It might be more like Shadowrun, where the advent of magic along with human nature creates a sickly dystopia of digital demons and wizarding mega-corporations.  It might be like Eberron, with steam locomotives powered by fire and water spirits enslaved by mages.  It might be like Fullmetal Alchemist, where magic is a studied science.

Or it might be like Madoka, where all the magical battles are merely for some incomprehensible goal, or the amusement of a higher being who claims to be "helping" the greater good.

That is all up to you.
